The Prodigy by Hermann Hesse
Hermann Hesse wrote a book called Demian and I once knew a ,man from Niue whose parents had named him after this character. The man was lovely, and he bought me to Hesse, though I confess to only having read Demian and Siddharta. I'm pretty stoked to have found this lovely little Penguin paperback from 1961 - and while the cover is in good nick, and the pages are gently yellowed as pages from 1961 should be the glue they were using that year was not great and the binding's a little loose."... maybe I can quickly read it before you buy it...
