Only One Earth, The Care and Maintenance of a Small Planet by
Barbara Ward and Rene Dubos
What do I know about this!? Not much except that all the loyalties from this book were being placed in a trust fund for environmental education. That was when it was first hand sorry folks, it’s a purely mercenary motivation that I have for popping this up here – and because I’m sure that it will pique someone’s interest.
Essentially this book "set the key for a 1972 UN Conference on the Human Environment". Aaaaah, the seventies – when spray on deodorant and rubbish bags of plastic chucked overboard in Barnes Bay…. Look at the state of things now. “What must he (sic) do to be saved?” The cover is talking to us!
Also, and quite gloriously, this is ex-library – and not just any library, the Antarctic Division Library and better than that! (what can be better than that!? I hear you ask) is that it was kept at Casey Station.
Wellbound 1973 paperback, first published 1972. It does have electrical tape on the spine though – I imagine it employed as a special Antarctic Library tool.
