You may have gathered that I have a penchant for books about the sea and sailing. I also like spy novels and this book is the ultimate pairing of the two.
It was published in 1903 and the action begins when Carruthers receives a letter from an acquaintance, Davies inviting him to come sailing in the Nord See. Carruthers makes the journey from London and boards the lovely vessel. The intrigue, spies, subterfuge, false identities are revealed as the vessel braces storms and lulls.
Seriously compelling, loved it to pieces.
